Philippine Sun
Across from the SF MOMA, the art installation, Philippine Sun (13°N, 122°E) brings a second sun to San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Gardens, serving as the city’s landmark first Filipino monument. Synchronized live to the dawn-to-dusk rhythms of the Philippine archipelago thousands of miles away, the sculpture provides the Bay Area diaspora with a luminous connection to home. Behind the organic glow lies custom optical engineering and complex programming designed to balance delicate civic reflection with striking public presence. The art work serves as a place to stop, slow down, gather around and connect in the heart of this bustling city.
